Baba is home!!! Hence the disappearance. At least that's my excuse for this one. LOL He's been home a month and with the holidays and the work I've barely been online.
We've completely cleaned out the basement. The mildew from the leaks and dehumidifiers not being emptied for roughly 5 years left a real mess. We threw away tons of stuff and made a couple of local thrift stores very happy. We've also packed away items we want to keep but don't really have a home for right now. It's now so clean in that basement that I'm going to use it for hanging clothes in inclement weather and even move my sewing machine and associated items down there.
Baba has started going through the new (well, new to us, though we've actually owned it since April) and organize and measure and decide what we still need and what size. I'm starting to get excited.
I also have my Kindle back. I'd sent it to Baba to make reading his homework easier on his eyes. It's now home with me and I've been downloading free books from Amazon. Some are obviously overpriced but some have been really good. I also needed to get a cover for it and 2nd generation Kindles are no longer sold in stores so neither are their accessories. So I returned one of my Paula Dean's Southern Cooking Bible books I got for Christmas and ordered a cover online (which happened to be the exact same price). It arrived today.
I've gone to my library's website and put a couple of books on hold for download on my Kindle. This will be a feature I'm going to enjoy.
If you don't have a Kindle, you seriously need to look into purchasing one. You can find older generations used as well as the covers and other accessories. Between the free and extremely cheap e-books available from Amazon and libraries loaning them out, it's a great savings. I prefer a real book but I'm addicted to my Kindle. It's compact, lightweight, and you can take notes while you read. Now that there are older models available used (and many of the sellers on Amazon have brand new items still in boxes, unused) you don't have to pay full price for a new one, though the new one for $79 is nothing to sneeze at. Mom and Niece each got one for X-Mas this year and love them. Oh, I need to call Mom and tell her about the library. LOL
