Nice to know they have their priorities straight

Isn't it amazing that in a country where morals are legislated and enforced they do such a horrible job of arresting the right people? In a place where their religion is supposed to promote mercy and submission to God's will they behave in the most evil ways with the people most dependent upon them for their welfare? Don't get me wrong...I really enjoy living here. There's nothing to look at here (flat and brown aren't just a nutshell...they're the whole description) and it's dusty more often that it's not. But it's a neat place to live. You haven't experienced hospitality until you've experienced Arabic hospitality. But when the following things happen so free and easily here, it's heartbreaking. Maids abducted by 4-man gang forced into a life of promiscuity

KUWAIT CITY : Police have arrested a four-man gang — two Egyptians, a Lebanese and an Iranian — for kidnapping and forcing Asian housemaids into prostitution, reports Al-Dar daily. According to security sources police have been in a clean-up operation of immoral activities in the area for the past three months and they have been looking for the suspects for a long time. Finally the officers zeroed in on the apartment after an Indonesian woman reportedly fell from the third floor apartment of a residential building in Maidan Hawalli. Acting on information police then raided the apartment and arrested an Egyptian pimp and five Indonesian housemaids, including the one who had fallen from the apartment in a vain attempt to escape. It has also been reported the suspects took the injured maid and held her captive inside the apartment although she was suffering from fractures. Police then raided a second apartment in the area and arrested two Asian maids whose nationalities have not been disclosed. The gang members have been referred to the authorities. Here is a story of what happened when some friends of mine did try to help. They reached out to a Nepali lady who was injured after jumping out of a third floor window in order to escape her abusive employers. This maid had surgery on her pelvis and spine, was five months pregnant and to add insult to injury was serving a sentence in deportation jail on an absconding charge. Chivalrous minister Kuwait : The Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah is said to have paid KD 400 from his pocket after it was discovered some visitors to one of the Ministry departments had used fake KD 10 bank notes to pay the ministry, reports Arrouiah daily. It has been reported the minister decided to pay because the people who had accepted the forged money were female employees.
