In an effort to be stubborn (not that it's really that much of an effort) and get my laundry hung out to dry, this is my rainy day laundromat. You can't tell from the sunshine in this picture but the sky behind the house across the way was a dark blue and there was thunder around. Ace and I went for a walk in our park and when we got home the clouds were getting darker. The sun came out and was shining by the time I was done but it's clouded up again a few times since. It's really getting darker now and the thunder is getting a bit louder. Not close enough to turn off the computer but enough not to hang things out on the line.
This is our front porch. It's on the south side and is open on the south and west sides. It will take longer to dry there than on the deck on the east side, which had the sunshine earlier but unless it starts to really blow later, I won't have to move it once the rain (hopefully) starts.
Speaking of the park, Ace and I hadn't been since summer school ended in June until last week. Either I didn't notice it last week or they finished it up since then, but where it used to be brush hogged from the bridge, through the soccer fields, to the other parking lot, they've made nice paths and put in gravel. It's wonderful! Big bits of it go through the woods and one part of it makes a circle all in the shade so if it's a really hot, sunny day you can walk and not get baked. We ended up walking for an hour we enjoyed it so much. Poor Ace...I may not see the whites of his eyes for the rest of the day. LOL
For supper I'm planning on a mix and match casserole. We have leftover chicken from a few days ago. I was wanting to make sambusik (Middle Eastern version of empanadas) for the school lunches this week. However, I'm really tired (and being outside helping the ferrier for 4 hours yesterday didn't help either) and don't feel like standing to roll out dough and make them. So I'm thinking I'll wait until tomorrow or Thursday. Or maybe the weekend, though there could be an advantage to doing it when the kids aren't around to eat them as they come out of the oven. The casserole from today should be good for leftovers for tomorrow's lunches anyway.
I'm also seriously considering knitting as a home-based business. I need to find patterns that I can sell things from without infringing on copyrights. I know of one website that allows people to sell anything they make from their patterns. There are some patterns I LOVE and have made several as gifts for people. I do need to contact them and ask if permission is possible and what conditions, etc. I also have some old pattern books from Grandma that could work. Many of them are published by yarn companies that no longer exist so I need to check on those as well. A lady on a knitting forum I visit shared a link with the info. Just need to get up the nerve to navigate it (could easily get lost) and find out. I have no desire to make up items and claim them as mine. I want to give proper credit to designers...just don't want to get in trouble so I need to make sure I check things out before I start too much planning. I hope it looks feasible...like I told my doctor yesterday, "If knitting burned calories, I'd be Twiggy by now."
