Throw away?

I'm not crunchy. I'm not particularly green either. However, I am practical (some of the time) and I like to save money where I can (so I have more to indulge my love of knitting and other pastimes). I also like to share pictures and links I see on FB so here you go.

I've never thought a lot about plastic spoons. I rarely buy them and only use them if I order something in a fast food place where a spoon is required. Same goes for forks and knives for that matter. I've avoided plastic utensils because they're a waste of money and it's just more trash that sits in the landfill forever. But I honestly never thought about the waste and expense and all of the other bad stuff that goes into making those plastic spoons. I have 4 sets of silverware in my house. An old set that is mostly missing for everyday stuff like spreading PB & J or butter, or stirring something small, etc. A nicer set that we got for a wedding present. A really nice set of stainless steel that I use for company, and a really, really nice set from my grandmother that I think is stainless steel but I'm not sure. Don't think it's actually silver though. Why on earth would I ever want or need a plastic spoon? And if we have a full house for the holidays? We have a dishwasher!

Now I don't take half of what I read on FB seriously, unless there's a link to a reputable website where I can read it myself. However, sometimes you run across something that makes you at least take the time to think. I'm glad that happened today.
