The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, Born of the Virgin Mary; Suffered under Pontius Pilate; Was crucified, died, and buried; He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven; And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit; The holy catholic church, the Communion of Saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting.

AMEN!

This is what I recite to myself on Sunday mornings during our weekly assembly. Once a week (Sundays for elementary students) there is a morning assembly. Students are chosen to recite the Quran and then there's the pledge and national anthem. While the students are reciting the Quran I choose to bow my head and silently recite the Apostles' Creed and the Lord's Prayer. Those are what I believe. I can't understand the Arabic being recited and that doesn't matter. It just helps me to stay focused. If I could understand it, it would make it more difficult to concentrate on what I'm saying. Why the Apostles' Creed? It's what I believe. It's the Gospel in a nutshell. It says it all. Some mornings the recitations go on a bit longer so I should probably work on memorizing the Nicene Creed. Actually it creeps in anyway. I forget the words to the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene steps in and takes over for me until I remember what I'm about. Thank you, N.C.

I'm enjoying this year of teaching. This school is a vast improvement over the one I taught in last year. There's much more work here but it's not wasted, like last year. Each teacher on her own with no appreciable materials (thanks to a very cheap owner and incompetent management). This school has plenty of materials and things are taken care of in a timely manner. It's not perfect, no school is, but it works very hard to do it's best. This is my opinion of my school at the beginning of December. That opinion could improve or worsen between now and June.

Well, it's off to work on lesson plans and grade papers. I'm proud to say I have my newsletter for next week done and it's in the hands of my aide for translation. That's one big thing off my list and it's only Sunday. Yeah!
