Fish Market

Tonight we're having people from DH's work over for dinner so yesterday we went downtown to a fish market (not the one closer to us that we usually visit) and picked out the fish. We walked a long way from the car and past a restaurant that DH had visited before. There are many little small shops where they have kitchens and they have their own little sitting areas under cover. It's part of a souk that is so neat to visit. You really feel like you're in the Middle East when you're there...not in one of the many malls they have here. We had kebab and something I can't remember the name of but it was meat and tomato sauce and other "stuff" and it was so yummy with pita bread scooping it up. We had hummus too but mine's much better. LOL

Then we went to the fish market and picked out a big fish for Samak Harr (fish stuffed with chopped green and red peppers and walnuts and parsley) and a bunch of smaller fish for frying. DH got a pic of the Little Prince holding a couple of crabs but it was with his phone since we didn't have the camera with us. I wish I could post that pic! He can find the eyes and the mouth and play with the pinchers. The Diva was less willing to touch it...although she did touch it a couple of times, very daintily.

Last night DH and I stayed up to watch a couple of movies. We stayed up way to late but I got a lot of cross stitch done. I'm hoping that after my walk and lunch I can get some more done before we have to get busy getting ready for the company. I forgot to buy eggplant last night for the baba ghanouj so hopefully I'll remember to pick that up after my walk with Elektra. I'm just hoping my iPod stays on for a full episode of Gracy to You before it goes kaput. It's almost empty and needs to be charged. I forgot to listen to it after we got home yesterday so I could finish it off and charge it last night. I love that thing. I know that one program lasts 28 minutes so I just listen to a couple of songs after it's over to get up to a good 30 minutes of more of walk time. Otherwise I'd never remember to look at my watch.
