We're back from our trip to Lebanon. We went straight from the airport in Beirut to Alcatraz...a restaurant owned by a friend of the brother of the kids' godfather, M. He used to have the restaurant on the beach but sold it and bought this smaller one on one of the old streets of Jounieh. It's a neat place and I had the best fish fillet I've ever had in my life! Yum!
We went the next day to FIL and SIL's place where Aunt cooked and brought in food (SIL cooked some of it too). Aunt's husband and brother were there and the kids had fun. The Boss had trouble breathing while we were there and I went to the pharmacy to buy an inhaler. We thought it was from the mildew in our house but it seems it was only happening after being at FIL's house. Could be all the dog hair that's not being vacuumed out of the carpets. They only have a straigh suction vacuum so it doesn't get picked up properly. He doesn't have that problem during the summer when the carpets are rolled up.
We went to the mountains with M and his family to play in the snow. The kids had a blast. We stopped at a traditional mountain restaurant. The food was great and we sat near a big fire in the middle of the dining room. The kids loved throwing snow at each other. They got it in the eyes a few times but just threw it right back again. The Boss got it down the back of the pants a couple of times. LOL
The Diva decided that she wanted to have her ears pierced since Y (M's daughter) does. She wanted pink earrings. She almost didn't get the 2nd earring after the shock of the first one. But after they stopped hurting she loved them. She and Y would go off and do girlie things...the first time she's had a little girl playmate. If she wasn't tagging along after Y, she was tagging along after S, Y's brother.
On Saturday night we went out to dinner with M and E at the casino. There was music and dancing and I got to practice the East Coast Swing with DH. After dinner we went down to the gaming rooms and watched M's brother do his thing. He's a dealer there. We watched him at the roulette table and then the blackjack table. He's good.
Our last day we visited some of the younger cousins...the kids had a blast playing with them. They're all growing so fast!
After we got home Monday night, we unpacked, DH fixed the broken pipes on the water heater, and we headed out to a New Year's Eve party. Lots of Lebanese food (all prepared by our friend) and dancing. You should see a Kuwaiti man in a dishdash dancing with Santa Claus. The Boss went with us since kids were invited (their younger son is his classmate) and we didn't get to bed until 4:30 a.m.! But it was so worth it. It was a lot of fun.
Last night I saw DH off at the airport. He's headed to the States for the better part of a month. I got to drive his Mercedes for the first time (he bought a '93 before we left for Lebanon), but I think I prefer driving my Galant. Although if I were ever forced to take the Mercedes for myself I think I could get over it. LOL
I hope all of you had a Happy New Year!
