Field Trip

Today the girls are heading to Marina Mall to have some fun. We're going to Color Me Mine Ceramics. I'm looking forward to it. My only complaint was that we found out about the field trip on Sunday. We have to have our lesson plans and newsletters turned in the week before so my newsletter that was being handed out on Sunday did not include the field trip. Luckily we got our spelling test in so I didn't have to play around with that. And I had plenty of time to move today's Math lesson to Sunday, but still! At least a week's notice would be nice. But as wonderful as this school is to work in, it is notorious for doing stuff like this. Oh, well. Nothing much to do but just get used to it.

The twins' closet is partly done. I got the Boss to help DH so I could go to bed. Then he fell asleep to the sound of the drill and slept in the twins' bed. (They were sleeping on a mattress in our bedroom.) I got to sleep in the Boss's room and DH took the couch. We have a frame for our bed (it's gorgeous!) but are still waiting for the box springs and mattress. It's an American bed. The beds over here don't have box springs. The mattresses just rest in the frame. So we're having the box springs made for it. I want to sleep in my own bed!

Well, the temps are down a bit. Yesterday the high was the high 80's and today it's the low 90's. An improvement over the 102 we had the other day. Due to our dress code the shortest sleeves I can wear have to come to my elbow. I have many t-shirts that I wear with a long sleeved t-shirt underneath and they look really cute. It's uncomfortable after school when I'm walking to my car (and I go home and get rid of a layer before heading to the store) but the school is so cold (gotta love A/C) that the layers I'm wearing right now are just right. I love the long skirts that are so common here. They're long enough to avoid hose and provide extra "ventilation" when it's hot. Not to mention they usually are rather slimming. Another strong point. :)

My TA told me this moring that after school yesterday one of my moms gave her a message for me. Her daughter didn't make the honor roll this trimester. She had 5's in all her classes except one, where she had a 3. That's what did it. The 3 was well earned. She'd goofed off for a few weeks and didn't bother to put forth her best effort. She was at a 2 and brought it up to a good solid 3 in the last week of the trimester. The mom wanted me to know that when she came in earlier this week to complain to the admin she wasn't complaining about me. Just that one grade kept her daughter off the honor roll. But she wanted to make sure R told me that she wasn't upset with me at all. She understood where the grade came from and we both are certain her daughter won't be letting that happen again. She's one of my really good moms. She's a teacher herself and very determined that her daughter do her very best. Her daughter always comes in prepared for a test. Heaven!

Well, it's time to get the girls and get ready for the field trip. Ciao!
