This is basically spaghetti in a custard sauce. Very yummy. We had this for dinner last night. Even the Diva ate it pretty quickly (for her).
1 lb. spaghetti
1/3 c. pine nuts (a.k.a. pignolias)
1/4 c. butter
1 lb. ground beef or lamb
1/4 teas. each cinnamon and allspice
salt and pepper to taste (it's fine with no salt since that's how I have to make it. I just use big pinches of the cinnamon and allspice to make up for it)
Cook your spaghetti according to directions. Brown the pine nuts in the butter until golden and then add meat and seasonings and brown until done. Butter a 9 x 13 (or thereabouts) pan and layer half of the spaghetti in it. Cover with the meat mixture and then with the rest of the spaghetti.
Make your sauce.
2 eggs, well beaten
4 c. milk
1 T. cornstarch (or 2 T flour)
Mix well and pour over spaghetti. Bake at 350 for 30 - 35 minutes or until set.
Sahtayn!
